SYNOPSIS: The extraordinary story of General Tom Thumb –  the world’s first global show business celebrity. Discovered at the age of four, and just 64cm tall, Stratton was a true child prodigy. His patron, P.T. Barnum, dressed the young Stratton in costume and trained him to sing and dance, transforming him from an unknown personality of the freak-show into an international superstar. His stardom truly reflected the age of his time, but was his career built on exploitation?

Originally produced for BBC as a one-off episode, the documentary has been turned into 2 episodes for sale purposes by TVF International.
